The music of the Chancel Choir has always been an integral part of our worship service. The mission of this music is to help create a mood of reverence, supplication, praise and joy in the celebration of the glory of the love of God within the worshiping congregation and promote a feeling of fellowship and community.
The SCC Choir is led and inspired by two fine musicians-Director Jim Kotora, Sr., and Organist, Ann Cawrse. Each has had years of musical experience and a comprehensive knowledge of liturgical and praise music. They also bring to our Choir the gift of bringing out the best in each Choir member, no matter what his or her musical background, and to blend these voices into a worthy offering. Often the Choir is augmented by other instrumentalists and on special occasions, a small, fine orchestra. These additions are made possible through specified pledges and memorial gifts to the Choir Fund.
Choir rehearsals are usually on Thursday evenings from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Church, September through mid-June. Soloists, small vocal ensembles and/or instrumentalists, are in the Chancel during the summer months.
The members of the Choir are a warm and welcoming group and the door is always open for any who like to sing. Blending voices with others is an uplifting experience, often combined with many times of fun and fellowship.
